ABOUT

What we Stand For

Making Maravillas is owned and run solely by Nia Rodriguez: a Black-Latina, neurodivergent artisan who believes in community, outreach, and human-made art.

We adamantly stand with all marginalized communities and advocate for the world to be a more accommodating and accepting place. Specifically in regard to all artwork, products, or patterns, we guarantee that ZERO AI is used through EVERY part of the process. ALL items are hand-woven, hand-sewn, hand-drawn, or hand-written.

Know that when you support Making Maravillas, you are supporting real people and our investment into future community resources.

Our Future

Our goal is to become a resource to anyone in need of community and help accommodate fellow crafters. As we grow we will expand our product selection, video tutorials, and community events. Product selection will next include ergonomic artisan tools and accessories. Online tutorials, online communities, and in-person events are all to introduce and foster a healthy expression and outlet for a multitude of needs. They will also include modifications for those who need them. We hope to reach this level of growth soon!

Our Story

Making Maravillas began the moment I learned to crochet. In early February 2024, I picked up my crochet kit that I received that Christmas. I thought it would just be a fun new art medium to try. Once I started crocheting, though, something just clicked for me. I truly felt like I had found something that I could do forever. I love bringing something to life, creating items, characters, or beloved pets!

As a Black-Latina, neurodivergent owner, I know what an impact community and culture can make. Making Maravillas is my effort toward something impactful. The name and theme of Making Maravillas are very special to me. The small storefront theme exudes warmth, comfort, and wonder. I want this to be a place that is exciting to explore, where you can linger for as long as you like! "Maravilla" is a Spanish word meaning marigold, wonder, or marvel. The brilliant, rich colors and cultural significance of marigolds are the perfect demonstration of what I want to share in this world. I hope you enjoy the experience and stick around for what's to come.

Let’s make something wonderful together.
